Charter 800th Anniversary Celebrations 27th May 2006

The Stafford Guild made their contribution to the borough celebrations with a programme of events during the day and a dinner in the evening.

The programme is detailed below.

11.00 Meet for Coffee in the Lodge Room. The Oddfellows Hall, Greengate Street
11.30 Walking Tours of Stafford commence Town centre - several tours
1.30 Return for Lunch The Oddfellows Hall, Greengate Street
2.15 Presentation by Derek Hill on the Freemen's Allotments Regeneration "
2.45 Coffee Break "
3.00 Presentation by Councillor Jack Kemp on his Research into the Freemen of Stafford. "
3.45 Move to St Chad's Church (next door but one) Short walk due to changed venue
4.00 Son et Lumière on the History of Stafford St Chad's Church, Greengate Street
4.30 Service, including renewal of Oaths, led by the Chaplain of the Guild - Rev Michael Fisher St Chad's Church, Greengate Street
4.45 Procession to Civic Offices along Greengate street
5.00 Visit to the Mayor's Parlour to see the Civic Regalia - to be confirmed Borough Council Offices, Riverside
5.45 Cheese & wine buffet in the Walton Room - to be confirmed  
6.00 End of Afternoon Programme

Should any of our "out of town" guests wish, a visit to the Allotments Site and Stafford Castle can be arranged on Sunday Morning.

Despite written confirmation six months ago the University has just informed us that the venue is not available, hence the change.
