STAG GOES TO STRASBOURG
|
Bob and Yvonne Giles of Marston have
taken the campaign against the proposed
wind farm to the doorstep of the
European Parliament by travelling to
Strasbourg. Arriving in France with a
group of business men and women from
Birmingham, Walsall and parts of
Staffordshire, they brandished STAG
placards (Stop Turbines Action Group)
before entering the building for a
meeting with West Midlands UKIP MEP Mike
Nattrass who supports their fight.
They told him that Wind Prospect and the Bradford Estates intend to submit planning applications for six 426 feet turbines between Blymhill and Brineton, but people living in the area are worried about the visual impact on their community and possible health hazards. Mr Nattrass said, "If wind farms are forced upon us, we must respect the wishes of the local people and ensure that giant turbines are not within 2 miles of homes. UKIP is very concerned that wind farms are more about subsidies than electricity generation." |

wind farm will have on the surrounding locality and
this information will be available to all who
attend.
Food will be on sale and there is ample car parking
space at Paradise Cottage. This social event is
being organized by STAG (Stop Turbines Action Group) who are not opposed to renewable energy, but are

Plinth in Trafalgar Square last week by visiting the
village website at
www.churcheaton.org.uk
KING STREET WIND FARM
Recent research by STAG, the stop turbines action
group, indicates that, looking in a south westerly
direction from Church Eaton, the proposed turbines
could have a visual impact on homes in the village
despite being sited 3km away. The 426 feet turbines
may possibly be seen from some houses in Little Onn
Road; The Oaklands; Parkers Close; Oak Close; Smithy
Croft; Swan Court; Malthouse Lane and parts of High
Street. On November 1 a blimp will be flown at the
height of the turbines and approximately at the
location of the site of the wind farm to ascertain
how far it can be seen. If you can see the blimp,
you will be able to see one or more of the turbines
if, and when, they are built. The chairman of STAG
is Tony Lendon on 840006 and the head of research is
Viv Wylie at

HORSEMAN FOUND FOR THE FOURTH PLINTH?
|
|
This morning at 3 a.m. well-known Church Eatonian John Edwards spent an hour on the Anthony Gormley Plinth in Trafalgar Square in London on 'Knotty' the Stafford Morris Men's hobby-horse. Perched on the 25 foot high marble slab, John told spectators about the history, traditions and benefits of Morris dancing. His message was that this most English of activities is far from dying out despite rumours to the contrary. John has been Morris dancing for about 40 years and is a member of The Illustrious Order of Fools and Beasts. |
